Last weekend we escaped to Phillip Island for a few days, to re-energise ourselves for the Christmas social period, share quality family time together, laugh, play, relax.
Really, we were just swapping one beach for another. However, there is something about getting away from your own home - the feeling of not having to wash, iron, garden etc.
Wow, we had a great time together. Coops climbed and slid all over boats on Ventnor beach, traipsed across the big red rocks at "red rocks" beach, played at the park with other little kiddies, learnt about baby seagulls, sharks, fish at the Nobbies, played with trains (his favourite thing to do), ran in the river that joins the beach and bonded even further with his little brother. We never thought that would have even been possible - but when they spent so much time together in a smaller different space to home, it was obvious that these two little boys love each other more and more each day.
Charlie ate sand, by the handful! Crawled through the sand and all around the backyard, ate fish and chips and even the lemon - yewwwww, tried to ruin his brothers train tracks, and just had the most amazing time with his big brother!
On our last night, Will was struck down with gastro - poor thing was out of action for the following day, so I entertained the kids with activities. That put a little dampener on our mini escape, but things like that are never convenient where ever you are!!!
Can't wait till our next little getaway, it's times like these that you realise how great just getting away from it all for a few days is great for the soul.
Do you like to "escape" to rejuvenate the body?
Red Rocks! My grandparent had a house near there and I practically lived down there until I was 10. Red Rocks is the BEST!
